"It's a good feeling to do good for others."
"I joined Prairie View Auxiliary to assist with fulfilling the purpose of the organization to raise funds to purchase extras to enhance the life of our resident's families and friends. Resident's enjoy the popcorn, soft ice cream machine and coffee makers and many more items that we have purchased with the funds raised. The Auxiliary meets the 4th Monday of each month at 1:30 p.m. I attend because Prairie View has had a special place in my heart for years. I look forward to that Monday. The gals belonging to this group have a good time. Coffee time is always special. New members are always welcome." Jeane VanVeldhuizen

Prairie View Auxiliary
With the opening of Prairie View in November, an Auxiliary was organized with membership open to interested ladies from the community. Prairie View Auxiliary was formed to discuss the spending of the coffee money earned that year for Prairie View. Each Tuesday morning different organizations in Sanborn had served coffee in the community building for a fund raiser and now decisions needed to be made as to how to spend Prairie View's earnings.
The first project was to serve coffee and cookies to the 4,000 visitors who toured Prairie View at their open house. The goal of the Auxiliary was to show love and concern by working at projects that would help to enhance the lives of the residents. This is manifested in the many items that have been given throughout the years. One of the bigger past projects of the auxiliary was the sewing of the clothing protectors for the residents; they sewed them up by the hundreds.
Meetings are held the fourth Monday of every month at 1:30PM in Prairie View's activity room. The meetings start with a brief meeting all the while members are busy working on various items for the cabinet sales. A cabinet is located in the lobby of Prairie View Home and is filled with many items from Rada cutlery to the worlds best dish towels, embroided flour sack towels, loom rugs, cookbooks and much more.
If you are interested in becoming a member of Prairie View Auxiliary contact Edith Vanden Berg at (712) 729-3667.
If you have questions or would like to purchase items in the lobby's front cabinet contact Naomi Bosch at (712) 729-3669 or stop in the facility M-F, 8:00am-5:00pm.
